I have several friends who are trainers like myself and they don’t understand how I can still be so passionate about going to the gym. I realize that being healthy and staying healthy is a choice that only I can make.
For me, going to the gym and working out is far better than visiting the doctor or going to the hospital. Remember the choice is yours.
What would you rather do? Would you rather eat healthy or be told by your physician that your weight is causing you health problems and pharmaceutical drugs are needed? Would you rather feel the embarrassment of an airline attendant tell you to leave the plane because you purchased one seat not two? Or would you rather your child lie to you about school functions, because he/she are embarrassed to be seen with you due to your weight?
These are the hard facts that overweight people are faced with on a daily basis. The choice is yours choose wisely.
Here are a few of the many reasons I enjoy going to the gym:
- Year round exercise facility – Not limited by the weather conditions.
- Expert advice – Although I’m a trainer, I enjoy learning and being advised by other trainers. I do not know everything.
- Variety of classes – Gyms offer so much more than just weight training (cycling, step aerobics, swimming, kick boxing and dance) are just to name a few of the classes offered at many gyms.
- Variety of equipment – A gym offers more than just weights. You can choose from cardio equipment like the elliptical, rotating stairs and the treadmill. There’s also bar bells, dumbbells and stationary weight equipment.
- Self Acceptance – The gym allows you to see individuals of all sizes. This generally encourages weight loss or acceptance for your current appearance.
- Day Care – Most gyms offer child care services at an affordable price.
- It’s Fun – I really enjoy going to the gym. I have lots of fun watching my body change when I’m preparing for a competition or just trying something new.
Yours in health,
Terri Tribble
